Description:
This is a modern sword that measures 37 1/4" overall, with a 31 3/4" curved, single-edged, Spanish-made blade having single fullers and 2/3 length etched panels. The steel is mostly bright, but does exhibit some small areas of plum-brown freckling near the tip, and has a previous owner’s name engraved on the forte panel on the obverse. The hilt has a bright gilt finish, with pierced counterguard, Phrygian helmet pommel, and black leather grip with intact braided wire wrap. The scabbard throat and chape have an identical bright gilt finish, while the black leather body is intact and in excellent condition. This is a handsome sword and would make a nice addition to a collection of US military swords and edged weapons.
