This Listing from a Family Collection of Shooting Sports Enthusiasts is a Used, Winchester Model 1892 / Model 92 Rifle in 32-20 Caliber with an Excellent Condition 24-Inch Barrel and Full-Length Magazine Tube. At first we thought it was re-barreled, but closer inspection reveals honest wear for age likely making it original. Serial Number 628,7XX indicates 1910 - 1911 year of manufacture; and the Barrel, Receiver, Patent, and Caliber Markings are Sharp and Legible. The Steel Forend Cap, Absence of a Barrel Band, and Magazine Tube Retainer are correct. The Smooth Wood Stock and Forend are Straight-Grained, Dark with Age, and in fair condition with some nicks and scratches from more than a century of use. Other age- and use-related blemishes are present on the wood and metal finish – from which nearly all of the bluing and case colors are gone. None of that affects function, which feels tight and entirely serviceable. The Crescent Steel Buttplate has some remaining finish. This Barrel retains nearly all of it’s blue finish compared to the other metal – and the bore looks bright with very well-preserved rifling that was difficult to photograph. The Loading Gate is bright blue. A Folding, Adjustable Lyman Tang Sight is in place, in addition to the Coarse & Fine Elevation-Adjustable Open Sight (which is original or vintage-period replacement). The “Marble’s No. 5” Brass-Bead Front Sight has matte, light-colored paint on the sides, applied by a previous owner for reasons unknown. The finish and condition are best appreciated in the photos – that in our non-expert/non-dealer estimate are approximately between 30 - 40 Percent Original Condition with smooth patina on the receiver and lever.
