Sako combines both elegance and versatility with the 90 Hunter. Its Grade-2 walnut stock utilizes a straightforward design which is ideal for traditional game hunting – a raised cheekpiece promotes proper alignment between the shooter‚‚s eye and a mounted optic, and optimized pistol grip geometry ensures proper hand placement and shooting ergonomics. The stock is rounded out with fine checkering in the grip and forend areas, and rubber butt pad comes standard to alleviate recoil. The 90 Hunter comes standard with Sako‚‚s multi-select trigger mechanism. This allows the shooter to choose from five different pull weight settings without having to disassemble the rifle, and provides a consistent way to way to learn to pull the trigger to achieve maximum accuracy. Trigger blade position can also be adjusted for the best shooting ergonomics for any hand size.
Like all of the rifles in Sako‚‚s 90 series, the Hunter is built around the 90 Receiver. As the heart of the rifle, these receivers are designed using a unique broaching method to minimize the contact area between the bolt and receiver. The is made possible by creating an internal surface that matches the profile of the bolt locking lugs. To achieve this, the steel of the receiver is carved by pushing multiple bolt-shaped cutting tools through the receiver to create a straight interior surface. The result of this manufacturing process is one of the smoothest operating bolts available – an essential feature when fast repeated shots are required. The 90 receiver has also been reinforced from previous models to easily withstand heavy recoil and promote superior accuracy.
