Description:
"NSN, made in 1818 altered in 1839, .70 caliber 41"" round barrel. Barrel and iron parts are a mix of dark brown and grey patina. Brass mounts have been lightly polished some time ago and are an even ""mustard patina"" Stock shows expected wear with nicks, dings and scratches visible. The sling appears to be untouched and is marked ""H. Wiegand Co.G 43rd Ill INF"", opposite side of the sling is marked in smaller script ""JFG/CO C/8th Tenn/INF COL/CSA"" These inscriptions is impeccable, many of these muskets saw service especially with Illinois soldiers. It is rare to see one that fought with both sides! (DALLAS LOCATION)
