Description: .62 caliber with 9-3/8” round, unmarked barrel. C. 1800-10. Barrel flash hole has been rebushed. Military style lock is marked “Miles/CP” indicating ownership by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, however I think the "CP" has been added. Lock with gooseneck hammer appears to be in original flintlock configuration and shows scattered pitting and grey surface. Brass furniture is in the style of 1807 contract pistols. Plain walnut stock is in excellent condition to be 200+ years old. Wooden ramrod is a replacement. John Miles made various styles of pistols under several contracts. Irregardless of the spurious "CP" marking, it is still a very nice Miles flintlock pistol. Quantities unknown but all variations are considered rare. Very attractive pistol.
