"Extraordinary Henry Hammond Deluxe Sporting Rifle. A fantastic gun! This gun is in excellent condition with 95% of the original blue on the barrel and 60% of case colors on the frame. The highly figured deluxe buttstock has just about all of the original finish with a few light handling marks. The gun is engraved mostly with scrolls, there is a panel scene of rocks and trees on the left hand side and a panel scene with a Civil War soldier on the right side. Both the front and rear tang sight are engraved along with the forend cap and butt plate. The action works very much like the handguns, only a much larger action. This gun also has double set triggers. Action works perfectly and the bore is mint. This appears to be an exposition gun. The barrels have English proofs, so at one point its way over there. Not many of these Hammond rifles are known. This is only the second one we have owned and the other Hammond rifle was in a military configuration. A letter by legendary gun dealer C. W. Slagle accompanies this rifle. This is truly a spectacular gun and may be a once in a life chance to won this piece!
