This excellent example was part of a collection purchased from Fred N. Page a WWII Veteran who was part of the 841 Engineers Company, Pacific Air Command, 6th army who served from 1943-1946 in Australia, New Guinea, Morotai, and Philippines. The machete is marked "LEGITIMUS / COLLINS & CO / MADE IN USA/ No 191" and measures 26" overall with a 20 ½" blade. In excellent condition the blade was shellacked when new and is perfectly preserved under that coating. The handle has a hand written label from Fred Page identifying this as WWII, US Marine. It is housed in a painted, commercial leather sheath marked "Schrap" Custom leather knife sheath and has the 841 marked on the belt strap, added by Fred. An excellent example of a very rare WWII Machete with an interesting provenance. Price: $395.00 |
