Description:
Properly known as the "Gardner Shackle", this prisoner restraint was invented by Warden J. C. Gardner in 1866 to curb escape from the Oregon Territorial Prison. Nickel finish overcast iron with no visible markings, no key but it is in fine condition. Marked on the sole "Reaper". A scarce and brutal Old West item. Together the boot and ring stand 9 1/4".
