One of a collector’s Special, Used, Winchester Model 1894 / Model 94 Carbines in 30-30 / 30 WCF Caliber; SN 1,172,2XX corresponds to 1940-41 Date of Manufacture. This appears to be a (according to Fjestad) a “Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine Eastern that was manufactured with a 20-Inch Round Barrel; No Saddle/Sling Ring; Long Style Forend, Serrated Steel Buttplate, and a Hooded Ramp Front Sight. For looks, we replaced the missing hood with one from our parts drawer. Eastern Carbines are said to have been made between the late 1920s – early 1930s; so, this looks like an “Eastern”, but we can’t be certain how it was labeled at the time of its original sale. The receiver and lever finish are an even, fairly smooth patina throughout – from carrying afield – sparing the nice remaining blue on the barrel that has Sharp Original Markings. Professionally Installed Sling Swivels are on the Buttstock and Magazine Tube, the latter via a Blued Band. The Stock is in Good Condition with only a couple of pinkie-nail size dings on the right side of the forend. Fit and function are tight and fully serviceable. Our non-expert/non-dealer estimate places this carbine at (approximately) 50-60 Percent Original Finish Condition.
