Description:
"Made circa 1850. 12 Bore with 29" barrels. This gun is in fantastic original condition. The barrel has all of its original browning and Gold overlays. The top of the barrel rib is marked “Le page arqer du ROI et de S. A. le prince ROYAL" Even the ramrod captors are gold overlayed. The stock is fantastic. It is decorated with inlaid gold, silver and ivory. There are several high relief carved ivory inlays of eagles in flight as well as animal heads. The  locks, trigger guard and buttplate are all engraved with high relief gold overlay with scroll vinal scenes featuring cherubs in the midst of a hunt of a different animal on each piece. This is all exquisitely crafted in excellent condition. This gun comes in a case that is a piece of art in of itself. The lid is carved and inlaid with different types of wood as well as scrimshawed ivory. The interior features all of the original accessories. This is as good as it gets! A true piece of art in steel. This gun was the work of Gilles Michel Louis Moutier-Le Page (1810 – 1887) He took over the LePage arms firm in 1842 in Paris. The works he completed are absolutely outstanding. Incredible Lepage Shotgun deserving of the very finest collection!
