Description:
This is an antique Corsican French Vendetta folding knife that measures 5 1/8" folded with a 4" talon/drop point blade with scattered fine carbon staining, some pitting a rough squared tip. The so called "Vendetta" knife design originated in Corsica after a popular 1840's novel about a vendetta and produced for travelers. This example is marked with makers name and symbol on the obverse side of blade is "VERITABLE / POUDRILLE" (Real Powder) next to what appears to be chalice. Hooked shaped aluminum handle with bone scales both showing wear and handling marks. The obverse scale has the faded Corsican flag with the profile of an adult head. The reverse scale has a long thin horizontal crack. An interesting collectible knife.
