Description:
Alexander Henry Double rifle, First Quality 500/450 cal BPE, vintage case with some foxing inside, some rubs outside as seen in the photos. Straps appear newer, lock and key on the case function. Rifle made 12-22-1876 as seen in the Alexander Henry log book. Rifle fits snugly in the case but there are no extra bits other than the key. The tang has a functional tang sight at the wrist and a flip up night sight in the front. Hammers are rebounding and lock. Barrels have beautiful damascus on them, forearm checkering appears freshened. Traces of casecolor visible on the frame. Action locks nicely, LOP 14 1/2" to the front trigger. Weight 9 lbs 2.1 oz., barrels ring true, A&T is 1938, bore has few pin pricks pits mostly at the chamber otherwise light frosling over heavy rifling. Listed in the Alexander Henry book as BDCFR, (Best, Double, Rifle, Center, Fire, Rifle) A very shootable rifle made about 100 years after the birth of the USA. Antique, ships directly to an adult.
