Description:
The Winchester model 70 is one of the finest bolt action rifles ever made, known for its reliability and accuracy. This custom model 70, originally manufactured in 1961 is in excellent overall condition with very little wear and a few interesting modifications. The barrel is the original Winchester featherweight barrel but it has been re contoured somewhat to make it even lighter weight, remove the sights and to blend the rear dovetail filler into the rest of the barrel for a seamless appearance. The action itself has also been modified, with a custom contour bolt handle and a re contouring of the tang to be reminiscent of the old "cloverleaf" tang on earlier model 70's. The stock is also custom and made from a beautiful piece of walnut. All custom work done by Phil Fischer, a custom gunmaker for Eddie Bauer.
