Fox DE Grade Special Marked Double Barrel Shotgun in 12 Gauge. Built blued barrels with a single steel bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, "KRUPP FLUID STEEL MADE BY" and "A. H. FOX GUN CO. PHILA. PA." on the right and left respectively, and 2 5/8-inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated to a casehardened boxlock action displays beautiful DE engraving coverage level although considerable different from the standard DE pattern of the period. Consisting of floral scrollwork surrounding "ANSLEY H. FOX" on either side as well as a circular game scene showing a pigeon in flight on the underside, as well as "Special" engraved next to the D Grade designation and remarked serial number on the watertable. The gun features double triggers and tang mounted automatic safety. The gun is fitted with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and Deeley latch release and a round knob pistol grip stock with checkered flats and a rubber recoil pad. Rating Definition: Very fine, retaining 95% refurbished blue finish with some scratches, spotting, and thinning near the breech, flashes or original case colors in the protected areas with the balance a fine silver patina, and overall light handling evidence. The wood is very good with a few chips on the forend edge, a small crack at the left of the stock head, some dings and scratches, and well-defined checkering.
