By 1964, St. Louis was celebrating 200 years of historical and economic importance in the United States. Colt’s Commemorative Firearms of the 1960s: Colt produced several commemorative revolvers during the 1960s, marking key historical events such as the Civil War Centennial (1961–1965), the Appomattox Centennial (1965), and the Texas Sesquicentennial (1965). The St. Louis Bicentennial model was part of this tradition, honoring the city’s legacy with a special Frontier Scout .22 revolver.   Colt manufactured 3,250 units of the Colt Frontier Scout St. Louis Bicentennial revolver in 1964 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of St. Louis (1764–1964).
