"Fine Contemporary English Fowler Marked London on the Barrel. Overall length is approximately 57". The 41½" octagon to round approximately .61 caliber smoothbore. Barrel has an excellent bore. The barrel is octagon for approximately the first 13" where it transitions to round at a nicely executed wedding band. All the metal finish is excellent. The wood is excellent with no cracks or chips and a property operating wood patchbox. The brass furniture is excellent with three pipes, a nicely decorated and engraved trigger guard, and a nicely engraved butt plate tang. The wood to metal fit is excellent, the barrel, trigger guard, and pipes are pin-fastened. The rear sight is draft adjustable. There is a black silver escutcheon on the top of the4 wrist. The top of the barrel is marked “London" and the side is marked in small script letters “Black powder only/ Read instructions before use". The action functions correctly. This is a great contemporary example of a circa late 1700s English Fowler.
