These pistols were manufactured by FN under a 1961 contract with the Argentinian Police. The police markings are clear as are the Belgian proof marks. The pistol has been refinished. The Crest on the top of the slide can be made out in outline but is illegible. On the other hand, The rest of the stampings are clear and readable. The FN HiPower traces its lineage to a French request to develop a new high capacity autoloading hand gun for its military. FN came up with the HiPower which held a lot of cartridges due to the double stack magazine. You can make a case that it was the forerunner of all the "Wonder-Nines" on the market today.
