Ainsworth Inspected 1873 Colt Single Action Army produced in 1874. Very fine Ainsworth. While most of the blue is gone, the 4 clicks are there, and the firearm is in fantastic shape. Simmons Gunsmiths have adjusted the timing and shot a black powder round through all 6 chambers (pic included). This firearm is fully functional. As one of the first 7,500 Colt SAA produced and inspected by Orville Wood Ainsworth for the U.S. Army. (Ainsworth worked the first 13 months of SAA production- first 14,000 firearms).
Ainsworth inspected the Colt SAAs shipped to the 7th Calvery under GA Custer. Only 1,655 Ainsworth inspected SAA are known to exist today.
