This a rare SHARPS & HANKINS ,Model 1859, sold to the UNITED STATES NAVY,FROM 1862 TILL 1865. This one is untouched , this was the first carbine produced with a safety,or for any gun.It originally had a leather cover to keep the salt water from destroying the barrel ,most were removed due to the problematic obvious reasons , you can not stop salt water from destroying the barrel so many were removed, this carbine from front to back is in above good condition.The leaf site is intact ,there is a slight line that effects nothing on the wood stock. The cabine cocks well and stays in all positions when cocked, so all the actions work well. There is much of the original blueing intact, and the barrel bore is in amazing shape.
