Description:
1900 manufactured Model 1900 Sight Safety chambered in 38 ACP with a 6 inch barrel and factory original charcoal blue finish. This one has a low serial number of 809. Per the included Colt archive letter it was shipped to New York, New York September 24, 1900. These were the first semi auto pistols that Colt ever made. There were only 4274 manufactured. Of those only approximately the first 3000 had a sight safety as they proved to be problematic. Many of them were sent back to the factory to remove this feature. This one has a functioning sight safety which is very hard to find. This is an all original pistol that remains in high condition. Most of the charcoal blue finish still retains a deep dark shine to it. As seen in the photos there are a few areas of light thinning from what appears to be some store of spilling of an unknown material. None of that penetrates all the way through the finish. Outside of that it only shows other various areas of light handling the most predominant being on the backstrap of the grip frame. Overall the finish rates about a 92%. The bore is bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. The slide to frame fit is very tight. The trigger has a crisp clean break to it. The factory grips are in very high condition and they only show light and scattered handling. This is a very nice 124-year-old pistol ithat will enhance any advanced collection.
