Description:
This is a Swiss-made sword that measures 37 7/8" overall, with a 33" straight, single-edged blade having narrow single fullers. The steel has an overall bright with a few scattered spots of dull freckling on both faces of the blade. The long ricasso is marked "J.DIEBOFD FILS ZURICH" on the obverse. The hilt has a pierced steel guard with Swiss Cross and vine motif, a single forward-swept quillon, and dove head pommel with thumbprint backstrap. The shagreen grip is in very good shape and exhibits minor surface wear, while the braided wire wrap is intact. The guard also features a leather finger loop fastened by a nut. The steel scabbard is in very good shape, with some scattered areas of mild surface oxidation, and minor scratches along its length, a small dent near the tip. The sword rates very good-fine condition overall.
