Description:
Thousands of fake Wells Fargo guns have been sold over the last 100 years due to immense importance of this name to the American Wild West history. Here's your chance to own an iconic 100% authentic and untouched Wild West gun with rock solid provenance. This 12 ga X grade gun has 24" barrels, as per factory letter; bores are shiny with a slight hint of peppering, action works fine with one stage rebounding hammers. Serial numbers are all matching. Stock is original and solid with exception of one small chunk of wood missing near upper receiver, the chipped walnut is 100% matching in color to the overall stock appearance, making it undoubtedly a part of its very early service history. Right side of the receiver is marked "" Ithaca Gun Company". Left side of the receiver is hand engraved with W. F. & Co. and scrubbed number. Between 1909 and 1915 Ithaca made 750 of these special grade hammer double shotguns for Wells Fargo. This particular gun was shipped in 1913 with a Wells Fargo ID # 231 which was subsequently scrubbed upon decommisionning from service but the number is documented in the letter.
