Custom Mauser 98 (G33/40) .270 Winchester. An unattributed rifle with superb detailing, serial 624 has a 22-inch barrel (octagon-to-round tapering to .550-inch muzzle diameter, hooded ramp front sight with white bead, integral quarter rib with three folding sight leafs marked 100/200/300 and mount dovetail). Features include an outstanding rust blue finish, polished rails, jeweled bolt body and follower, custom fbolt handle (flat, checkered spoon), custom shroud, custom side safety with checkering, Canjar trigger and custom bottom metal with rolled trigger guard). The AAA walnut stock is dressed with wrap checkering, pedestaled bolt release, scalloped cheek rest, checkered grip (bottom) and a checkered butt with horn toe cap. Kimber quick detaching rings are secured to custom bases. CAPACITY: Five rounds (four plus one). The extractor “snaps over” rounds dropped into the chamber. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 7.0 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.3 inches. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Trigger pull is crisp and mechanical operations are smooth. Metal finish is at least 98 percent. Wood is approximately 95 percent, the majority of the adjustment from worm holes in the toe cap. The price is firm and layaway is available. $4,000 plus shipping.
