Description:
Offered for sale is a Winchester Model 21 in 20ga., Production Era (1931-1959) side by side shotgun, serial # 14209.  This gun comes with a Cody Firearms Letter stating production in 1946 and returned to the factory for repairs in 1949.  This Model 21 features an old-style frame with exquisite “custom engraving” in the 21-6 style pattern with six gold inlays.  Pauline Muerrel, a former Winchester Factory Engraver, Author and Historian has confirmed by letter that she believes the engraving is an “outstanding example” of Winchester Factory Engraver George Ulrich’s work.  A gold retriever and grouse are inlaid on the right side of the frame with a gold retriever and pheasant on the left.  On the bottom of the frame rests a gold inlay of a retriever’s head, with the trigger guard featuring a woodcock inlaid in gold.  The trigger plate is marked Skeet Grade. The 26-inch raised matted rib barrels are choked WS1 and WS2 and feature a Bradley Red Bead front sight and a Winchester 94B middle site. The straight grip stock and beavertail forearm are carved in the 21-A pattern with checkered side panels.  A rubber recoil pad is affixed to the butt of the stock with a “Winchester” inscription running vertically down the pad.  This Model 21 also features a single selective trigger and ejectors.
