Description:
This is an original Ames Co. M1870 Naval Rifle Bayonet with Scabbard in very good+ Condition. Original bayonet with crossed canon and anchor motif on both sides of the pommel. Over-all 24.75" total length with unsharpened 20" blade, light speckled patina, a few small dings n the edges. Cast brass fish scale grip, rifle-bayonet locking mechanism works perfectly. Markings include, U.S.N, G.G.S and 1870 on the obverse side of the blade. Ames Co, Chicopee, Mass stamped on the reverse side. Inspector initials "I.A" stamped onto the rear of the pommel and s on the guard. This comes with the correct leather and brass scabbard in good to very good condition with wear on the surface and a delicate bend at the end mount/chape and body. ;
