31994- REVOLUTIONARY WAR FRENCH FLINTLOCK OFFICER’S PISTOL BY JOSEPH DUMAREST OF ST. ETIENNE CIRCA 1770’S. 14” o/a with 8” part octagon /part round smoothbore .54 caliber barrel lightly engraved at the breech in floral motifs. Lock signed in script “JOSEPH DUMARES”. Steel engraved mounts and side plate. Relief floral carved walnut stock with light silver wire inlay on the grip. 100% original attic condition and has never been cleaned or restored. A nice all original gun to the last screw with original old dark patina. Excellent wood with fine crisp carving. Lock in working order. Even has the original steel tipped wood ramrod. By one of the best known St. Etienne maker’s of the 1700’s and 1800’s one of the famous Dumarest family of maker’s with 18 individual family and firm maker listings in the Der Neue Stockel. Of the type carried by French Officers in America during the American Revolution. Nice authentic all original example. $1900.
