32270- CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE ALTERED SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1855 PISTOL CARBINE CIRCA 1861-63. 11” barrel shortened 1” with ramrod removal alteration with front sight added. Springfield “V/P/EAGLE HEAD” proofs at left breech. Lock dated 1856 and stamped “U.S./SPRINGFIELD”. Barrel dated 1855. Tape primer door removed and Confederate hammer added to facilitate use of conventional percussion caps with Maynard Tape Primer rolls unavailable. Hammer very similar to those seen on CSA altered Hall rifles and carbines and others. Stock with nice original Ordnance inspection cartouche on side panel. Beautiful old dark patina on metal. Nice clear markings. Stock with the original finish. Two old hairlines at the wrist. Lock in working order. 100% original and very interesting Confederate Civil War pistol at a very reasonable price. $1250.
