Description:

A very desirable high condition Frank Wesson .22 caliber "Pocket Rifle”. It has the short 10” barrel length and is chambered in the much preferred .22 caliber. The gun is mechanically excellent and the swivel breech swings open perfectly without any wiggle or looseness. The bluing on the barrel is about 92-94% and looks excellent. The nickel finish on the action and stock is very good with just some loss on the Botton of the grip area. The wood grips are excellent and do not have ant chips or cracks. The front sight is complete with the post & bead inside the globe and the adjustable rear sight is all in tack and functions perfectly. The removal shoulder stock slides on and off easily by just loosening the bottom knob slightly. Frank Wesson, younger brother of Daniel Wesson of Smith & Wesson fame, made about 5000 of these pocket rifles between 1874 and 1888. They were chambered in either .22 rimfire or .32 rimfire. A button under the front of the frame is pressed to allow the barrel to swivel to the right for loading. These were referred to as “pocket rifles” because they were in essence a pistol, but had longer barrels. Wesson made these with 10” to 22” barrels. The gun also came with shoulder stock that could be attached to steady the gun against the shoulder like a rifle. The stock could be removed and the pistol could still be carried in one’s pocket. The serial number of this gun is 777 and the stock has the matching number. This is an excellent condition pocket rifle with matching stock and chambered in the desirable .22 rimfire cartridge. This gun was made before 1898 and meets the requirements of an antique so no license is required to purchase the gun. I offer a three-day non-firing inspection period and always want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. The gun will be packed correctly and shipped with insurance to your address in the continental United States for $55. I ship the following day after the payment arrives and provide tracking information. Please see my other collectible firearms that I have listed. Thanks for your interest and please let me know if you have any questions.
