Description:
NSN, .45 Caliber, 3" barrels with good, lightly pitted bores. This is a handsome pistol, made in the turn of the 19th century, that has a tap-action pan allowing for sequential or volley firing of the top and bottom barrels. The iron frame and barrels have a pleasant, pewter gray patina throughout, with some small areas of darker freckling scattered about. The frame has engraved martial panoplies on both sides with "G & S / YOUNGE" retailer’s marking on the left side. The tap, frizzen, cock, and sliding safety latch are mottled gray and slightly darker than the frame and barrels, while the action is firm and fully functional. The smooth, bag-shaped walnut grip is in good condition, although there are small handling marks and blemishes throughout. The spring-loaded, 2" angular bayonet needs a little bit of help to latch in place since the leaf spring has weakened a bit over time. All-iron tap-action pistols are less frequently encountered than the brass pistols, and this example rates very good-near fine overall. Antique
