Synopsis: Late Military Colt 1911A1, British Lend Lease, WWII, 2288673, FB01344 Description: Colt 1911A1, British Lend Lease, made in 1945 with correct grips and unmarked magazine. SN: 2288673. Cal: .45ACP. Standard configuration pistol with a 5” barrel, fixed front sight and drift adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide with usual two line address including the rampant Colt. Left frame with inspector marking by GDH. Right side of frame with the usual “UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 U.S.ARMY” over the full serial number. Later applied British proofing on exposed barrel hood and right side of frame along with the usually reference “NOTENGLISHMADE” and “BRITISH GOVERNMENT”. Correct coarsely checkered Keyes grips with screw reinforcements. Magazine with an unmarked floorplate. Condition: VG/EXC, the frame having a much more textured finish than the slide, the British proofing having clearly cut through the parkerized surface. Comparable condition salt blue on barrel, bushing, hammer, grip safety, and other miscellaneous parts including magazine. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics.
