Only a small fraction of the vintage Marlin 336's were produced in the Texan Configuration (about 90 % estimate..were pistol grip model) which is the handsom straight stock version. 20" barrel carbine chambered in 30 30 and 35 and for a brief perid in the ealry 60's in 44 mag
This is the square lever version which lst appeared in 1967, and is factory drilled and tapped for scope though none was ever mounted on this gun and the filler screws are still present.
Marlin signature Bullseye often missing in older guns is still in place.
Rear site is a replacementy ..originals are avail from many sources for a few bucks
Other than a few minor marks on the butt stock this gun is in almost new condtion ...and clearly has not been hunted.
