Description:

A bit of history is in order first for those not familiar with the London Colts. In the early 1850s
Samuel Colt went to London to show his pistols. Due to the great interest shown he decided to build a London factory. He had to ship the machines necessary and also supply the personal needed to make both the 1849 pocket pistol and the 1851 Navy. The manufacturing started in 1853 and only lasted til 1857 when he sold the factory.

This 1851 Navy was built in 1853 or 1854 as it has a low serial number. The problem is there are two 1851s out there with serial # 1884. The U.S. Made one was in 1850 before there was a London factory. This one is numbers matching except the barrel wedge, maybe it wasn't done in the London plant? The revolver is fully functional and the bore has some pitting with strong rifling. In the photos you will notice the British proof stamps on the barrel and the cylinder, required in England.

At 78 I'm breaking up my collection of 40+ years and looking to pass on my historic pieces.
