STK# P–36–92

Springfield 1873 – 45-70 –Stk# P-36-92

This Springfield 1873 .45–70 trapdoor has a 35–5/8” round barrel that has a fixed front sight and an after-market adjustable v-notched rear sight. The bore shows good clean rifling. The P grade walnut stock has some scattered usage marks and a faint Inspectors proof mark can be seen.  Metal components have developed mottled brown gray patina, consisting of standard iron mounts including a barrel band with stacking swivel. The breech block is stamped with the standard   "U.S MODEL 1873" over crossed arrows, an eagle head, and "US" markings. The lock plate bears the spread eagle and "U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1873.”  Length of pull is 13–1/4”, Overall 52”, weight: 8.00 lbs. Condition: Good. Made by Springfield Armory.

Note:  There is a repaired crack through the upper lock bolt. It is missing the metal ramrod. Two letter “W’s” have been carved in the left side of the stock adjacent to the trapdoor action.
