Description: Fine Vintage Smith & Wesson Model 59 9 MM Auto Pistol Offered here for sale is a newly acquired fin e collectible S&W Model 59 double action auto pistol. The Smith & Wesson Model 59 is a semi-automatic pistol that was introduced in 1955. It's a full-sized handgun designed to chamber 9mm Luger rounds. The Model 59 is notable for being one of the first 9mm pistols to be made in the United States with a double-action (DA) and single-action (SA) trigger system, which became a significant feature in many later designs. The Model 59 originally was introduced with a steel frame and later made lighter and more well balanced with an aluminum frame. It has a 4-inch barrel and a full-sized grip, providing a solid feel in hand. SN A 385317 this pistol was manufactured circa 1977 . The magazine capacity of the Model 59 is 14 rounds, making it one of the higher-capacity pistols available at the time of its release. The pistol retains virtually all of its blued finish and has seen very little if any use. Well protected over the years it stills has some dried oil in protected places as seen in some of the images posted. We will clean before shipping and would rate the piece in 99%+ condition. It features a DA/SA trigger mechanism, meaning that the first shot can be fired in double-action (longer, heavier trigger pull) and subsequent shots are single-action (shorter, lighter trigger pull). The Model 59 comes with a manual safety and a decocker, which allows the user to safely lower the hammer without having to manually cock it. This pistol was initially adopted by some law enforcement agencies and was also popular among civilian shooters. The Model 59 is part of the first series of 9mm pistols made by Smith & Wesson, helping the company gain a foothold in the growing market for 9mm handguns. Though the Model 59 itself was eventually replaced by newer designs it laid the groundwork for future Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistols. The Model 59 is considered by collectors and gun enthusiasts to be an important milestone in the history of American semi-automatic pistols. ML131 Thanks for your bid.
