This specimen originated as a WWI Colt commemorative .45 auto depicting a number of battles in World War I. The Colt 1911 WWI Commemorative .45 Auto – Château-Thierry Edition is part of a special four-pistol series produced by Colt in the 1960s to honor significant battles of World War I. This series included: "The Belleau Wood" (issued in 1967) "The Château-Thierry" (issued in 1967) "The Second Battle of the Marne" (issued in 1968) "The Meuse-Argonne" (issued in 1969) Château-Thierry Edition Details: Caliber: .45 ACP Model: Colt M1911 Finish: High-polish blue Grips: Smooth walnut with a gold medallion Markings: Gold inlaid battle scenes and commemorative inscriptions Production Year: 1967 Special Features: This pistol features gold-filled roll marks with "Château-Thierry" on the slide, and it was produced in a limited run to appeal to collectors and military history enthusiasts.
