Description:
28 inch barrel with the ventilated rib in the very rare 2-1/2 inch chamber. Skeet choked. This gun features the third variation of the oval post rib and is marked "Simmons Patent". These were installed by Simmons Gun Co in Kansas city and then sent to Winchester for finishing. Pistol grip checkered wood in VG condition with most original varnish and 14 inch LOP. Overall metal is generally VG with 90% blue. VG bore. Interesting gun. In the Winchester Model 42 book by Ned Schwing on page 146 is stated that Winchester only produced a total of 61 Model 42's with vent rib and 2-1/2 inch chamber. Rare gun showing little use.
