Fine Pre-War S&W Pre-Model 17 .22 Revolver
Offered here for sale as a part of a very large collection of handguns from a large estate is this fine vintage pre-WWII .22 revolver made by Smith & Wesson. Based on your description, you likely have a Smith & Wesson .22 Hand Ejector Model which we believe is a pre-model 17 .22 target model. This specimen is serial number 384257. It carries a last patent Date on the barrel of 1908. The factory original diamond checkered grips are stamped with “1917” on them.
The barrel is stamped ".22 LONG RIFLE CTG.". Adjustable rear sights. This model was popular among target shooters and evolved into the K-frame Model 17 (K-22) later on. This exact specimen escaped our final cleaning as we have had many dozens of new guns acquired at the same time and we have attempted to place as many online as possible. Images show some dried oil and “peach fuzz” on frame which will all clean off before shipping. The only appreciable wear noted is on the left rear of framewhere the blue is worn or discolored-turned to a brown patina probably from handling. The bore is still excellent and the grips are fine and the case colors are still vibrant.
