Description: Stk# P-36- 96 US Contract Musket – Model 1817 – 20 Ga – Smoothbore – Flintlock – by N Starr & Son Stk# P-36- 96 This US Contract Musket model 1817 has been rebored to a 20 gauge Smoothbore. There is a V-notch fixed rear sight and a fixed front sight. The bore is dark and has pitting throughout. The P grade walnut stock is mounted with steel furniture, including an oval patch box. Stamped on the tang is 1841. The stock also has some scattered usage marks and faint inspector’s cartouches. The large military style round faced flintlock with N Starr & Son US and MiddTN Conn 1841 stamped on the plate, is activated by a single trigger. Comes with the original metal ramrod. The length of pull is 13”. Overall length is 52”. Weight is 8.8 lbs. Good wood to metal fit. Overall condition is good. Manufactured by Nathan Starr & Son. Only 6,000 of this model were made.
