This is a 1917-made revolver that retains 85-90% of the original blue finish with silvering at the muzzle and along the high edges and projections, as well as numerous small handling marks and small scratches scattered throughout. Additionally, there is thin freckling scattered throughout and most of the blue loss occurs on the backstrap stamping: "RNWMP 1604." A later "MP" RCMP stamp is present on the butt behind the lanyard swivel, as well as a second "MP" stamp on the interior grip frame. The revolver has a replaced hammer with practically all of its original factory nickel finish remaining, and the later Coltwood grips are in fine shape with only minor wear and flattening of the points. The lock-up is still tight and the action functions smoothly in both single and double-action. This revolver was one of 200 .45 Colt New Service revolvers shipped to the Commissioner of the RNWMP on October 8, 1919, and is listed by serial number on page 189 of "Arms & Accoutrements of the Mounted Police 1873 & 1973" by Phillips and Klancher (1982). This is a great Mountie-marked Colt, and is in fine condition. FFL or C&R Price: $1,895.00 Curio/Relic: Yes |
