Description:

Henry Sears, Chicago, Il (1865 – 1959)
This gun is a very well made 10 bore hammer gun with 32 inch barrels weighing in at about 9 pounds. It has a conventional top lever-opener with double under locking lugs; and a Deeley & Edge type forend latch. Condition is very good/excellent – no rust corrosion, dents, gouges or other flaws. Barrel bores excellent. Excellent sharp checkering on the highly figured walnut stock. Buttplate, grip cap and forend tip eschaton are horn. The action has no case color and is drifting brown. The “Finest Damascus Barrels” retain most of the original finish while the wood still has 90+ original varnish. The barrel is inscribed "Henry Sears & Co. Chicago, Finest Damascus Steel". Buttplate shows no visible ware.  Yet, does not look fresh and new. LOP = 14”, DAH = 2” & DAH 3”. SN # 18026. All in all a nice example of an 1890s vintage antique shotgun.
Founded in 1865 the company products were principally sporting goods and hardware.  By 1883 there was a manufacturing division. Henry Sears is best known for their pocket knives produced by Henry Sears Manufacturing co. in Poland which operated until 1979.
