Feinwerkbau 2602 Short Barrel Supermatch (heavy barrel)
Description: High accuracy rifle for match (or bench rest), with significant advantages over all current production rifles from FWB or most from other manufacturers. Has 16.75" heavy barrel with optional adjustable iris front sight, and OEM sling for 3P use. This rifle is under consideration for purchase at this time. Check has not arrived yet, so not listed as sale pending. No identical seconds are available from me. Suggested alternatives are the GX-1 and 1907/1914. A short barrel Anschutz 1907/1913 in metal stock, formerly property of, and used by, the German national team is potentially available. This possible alternative is significantly more accurate than this FWB rifle, and slightly more accurarte than the national team KK200 once the barrel tuner is adjused. It is more accurate than the "average" out of the box $10,000-14,000 current production European match rifle due to the improvement in accuracy that occurs with metal stress relaxation from the first few thousand rounds of firing.. Estimated market value for this rifle is over $10,000. If interest exists in this alternative short barrel match rifle, it will be listed on this with images. Please note, this is NOT the rifle that is mis-identified as the 2602 on the Blue Book , which shows the sporter version and is marked that way in theimage . The Supermatch version used a shorter, much heavier barrel and longer barrel extension, and was significantly more accurate. The stock also is different, and closer to the optimal match stock design to assure no contact with the barrel. The standard rear diopter also is different. Current retail value approximately $3200, considering the adjustable front iris, completeness of accessories, and condition. The rifle uses what now is an "older" Feinwerkbau bolt design, which is significantly more study than the current one, but with a slightly longer lock time that is completely insignificant in actual use. If interested in purchasing, please email an offer to consider. An offer of about $2920 plus shipping is likely to be accepted. Phone calls are fine, but due to the number of junk calls received and call filtering, email is better for initial contact. Basis for the offer, including reasons for request of the items as a gift for charitable or other purposes, can be considered. For those who want a heavy barrel, competition quality rifle that handles like a lightweight in various positions, or if the usual target rifle does't quite cut it due to weight distribution, an option is this. FWB Feinwerkbau 2602 with short (16.5") heavy barrel, adjustable wood stock, sling, front and rear sights, front hand stop, manual, and test target. Excellent condition. Front sight was an OEM option, using an adjustable iris, that functions correctly. Slight use wear to the iris adjustment ring fingergrip area. The short, heavy barrel of this rifle primarily was developed to provide improved accuracy at 50 M over standard barrel lengths, due to reduced amplitude of vibration, and shifts the center of gravity towards the stock, reducing the need for added stock weights and barrel tuners. This rifle is not the same as the more commonly seen one of standard barrel length. It also uses simpler, less troublesome bolt and trigger designs compared cto current versions. Lock time is a little longer than current production, but this makes no practical difference in accuracy or other performance of the rifle compared to the newer versions. Although 50M accuracy was the initial design objective, the short barrel makes a significant difference in handling, with some difference in accuracy at 50M. Barrel is 16.75", heavy weight, with sight extension. Can be used without the extension with a scope mount, or with a front sight clamp mount (not included). Accuracy is excellent and very much the equal of most Anschutz and Walther rifles, as indicated in the test target. While the short barrel rifle offers more "comfortable" use for non-prone firing due to the weight distribution, it becomes a little less accurate than the standard rifle at 100-200 meters. However, the offset is the much lighter feel and greater ease of use, due to the short barrel. This can make the rifle ideal for smaller-sized users, or those who are not competition weight lifters. Some prefer to use match pistol ammunition with it, due to the better match in burn time. The rifle can be scoped, but the dovetail scope (and front sight) railes on FWB rifles are not flat topped like Anschutz or Walther. As a result, they require either rear diopter sights or scope mounts that will fit a dovetail with a slight top curvature, an adapter, or the tops require filing or milling to achieve the needed flatness. This rifle also uses and includes spacer blocks for the sights, for longer range use. There are slight age defects in the finish of the stock, very difficult to photograph, that appear as slight wrinking in some lighting. The overall length, with the extension attached, is about 1-2" longer than on the Walther KKM and KK200 or similar rifles, which improves sighting but may require removal of the extension tube for some storage or transport cases. The short barrel 2602 supermatch is not just a 2600 with a shortened barrel of same type. The barrel is significantly heavier and thicker than the standard 2600 barrel. The accuracy generally is better than the 2600 at any distance or 2602 sporter (SP).
