Description:
For sale, a very interesting American made antique pepperbox model percussian revolver. It was manufactured by the Blunt & Sims Company in New York City, New York in the 1840's or '50's. The barrel on this pepperbox are 3-1/4" long and appear to be .31 caliber. It has a ring trigger that operates an underhammer that fires one of the six barrels each time it is pulled. This example retains very little of the original factory blue finish on the barrels. All of the nipples are present and in good conditiion The action while still tight, will not rotate the barrel as it was intended to. The barrels still rotate but not completely and do not lock into place when the ring trigger is pulled. These pepperboxes were a great design and packed a lot of firepower for that time in a small, concealable package. They were a favorite of gamblers, prostitutes, and the "'49ers" of the gold fields and mines of California. This American made Blunt & Sims Pepperbox belongs in any early American firearm collection as a very historically important evolution in firearms design.
