A good bore with scattered light roughness. Blade front and an "1876" marked folding ladder rear sight. Thumbprint dust cover. Crisp tight action. Special order set trigger that works. Overall gun is in fine condition retaining about 25% thinning blue with the balance turning a plum/brown color. Wood is in excellent condition with a rifle style buttplate. Herb Houze's book on the 1876 Winchesters indicates there were only 93 1876's manufactured with the heavy barrels. This gun comes with two Cody Museum Letters and a George Madis letter. An interesting fact is that one letter is addressed to Mr. Tom Selleck. Mr. Selleck has been a serious gun collector over the years and this one came out of his personal collection.
