Description:
Original shotgun chaps
These chaps are from an estate sale. They have beautiful aged patina, on smooth greyish leather. They have a great looking basket stamped belt, and classic large patch pockets with rolled leather button closures. The leather is very flexible and would be wearable for trail rides or reenacting. The legs have laced leg seam, with thin cut fringe that you often see in old photos.  A lot of the original fringe is intact with a few pieces missing.  Absolutely great original use patina with 16 nickel plated brass conchos with about 60% of the nickel wore off.
These chaps are an 1870s style pair from the River Junction private collection. Made of chaparajos leather. Upper sides and fly area re-enforced with a double layer of leather. Has two flap pockets with leather buttons to secure them.  All stress points are original re-enforced and intact.
The out-seam is 37 inches to the top edge of the belt, the inseam 31 inches, the waist belt length to the center hole is 35 inches and the overall belt length is 40 inches.  The right pocket has a hole completely threw the front and back. Makes me wonder what happened?  Note that the belt is still complete and has not been added to or shortened. This is a very good pair of chaps for being 125 years old.  A wonderful addition to your Old West collection or special addition to a Colt or Winchester collection.
