Description:
Offered is a Colt Model 1878 revolver that was shipped to the Atlanta Police Department in the late 1880’s. The Atlanta Police department purchased 90 of these revolvers for their uniformed officers and very few exist today. The shipments of these were as follows: 30 revolvers shipped on March 5, 1889, 40 revolvers shipped on February 14, 1890 & 20 revolvers shipped on December 4, 1891. These figures are from the Model 1878 book by Don Wilkerson. (Photo of book shown below). The gun remains in good condition and the back strap is marked: ATLANTA POLICE No. 107. All markings on the gun are clear and crisp as is the serial number on the butt marked 22745. Also included with the gun is a Colt Archive letter, special made revolver stand, Police Badge, Police belt buckle and set of period correct handcuffs (Includes key) used by the Atlanta Police. In all of my years of collecting I have encountered only three of these Model 1978 Atlanta Police revolvers. An extremely rare Colt revolver. I offer a three-day non-firing inspection period and always want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. The gun will be packed correctly and shipped to your home in the continental United States for $65 (California is extra because I have to ship through my local dealer). This gun is considered an Antique and does not require an FFL license for transfer. It may be shipped directly to your home.
