FINE 1945 Manufactured MILITARY SIDEARM
Here we present a C&R Unceta S.A. Spanish Astra Model 600/43 Semi-Automatic Pistol chambered in 9x19mm and made circa 1945. After Germany gained a land border with Spain following France's capitulation in 1940, they seized the opportunity to purchase Spanish firearms, specifically Astra pistols, which were delivered to Hendaye. The initial acquisitions included the Astra 300 and 400, but while the Astra 300 was well-made, it was chambered in .380 and .32 calibers, and the Astra 400, more suitable for service, used the 9x23mm cartridge, not compatible with German forces.
In 1943, German engineers collaborated with Astra to develop the Astra 600/43, a modified Model 400 rechambered for the 9x19mm cartridge, suitable for the Wehrmacht. Germany ordered 41,500 units, and by May 1944, 10,500 were delivered and integrated into the German military before Allied advances halted further deliveries.
The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. The action is robust. Semi-bright bore with serviceable rifling. Both grips are in very good shape with sharp checkering. Markings are legible. Numbers match.
