Description:
Model 1878 Long Range No.1 rifle. This gun was formerly in the collection of Frank Sellers and is pictured on page 278 of Sharps firearm book by Sellers. A well documented Sharps with Nimschke engraving. Overall gun is in excellent condition with correct windage front sight, buckhorn rear sight and correct tang sight. Gun also features provision for moving the tang sight to the end of the buttstock for greater distance. Deluxe grade wood is nicely checkered and retains most original varnish. Hard rubber buttplate. Barrel has most original blue. Receiver retains about 40% case hardening. Delicate engraving on this fine Sharps.
