Description:
Connecticut Mfd. Charter Arms Undercover .38 Revolver
Offered here for sale and recently acquired is this little piece of Connecticut firearms history -the Charter Arms "Off Duty" .38 Special revolver, and it’s even more interesting when it’s tied so closely to your location in Southport, CT—Ansonia is just a short drive up the Merritt Parkway.
Here’s a closer look at what makes your revolver special- manufactured by Charter Arms, Ansonia, Connecticut, this model-the “Off Duty”, serial number 1105266 is chambered for the easily obtainable  .38 Special cartridge. It has a  2 inch barrel, great for concealed carry and is nickel-plated. It has high-polish synthetic or possibly custom wood grips—great contrast against the bright nickel. Lightweight, under 16 oz.—reliable, lightweight, and compact. Charter Arms had a long-standing tradition of manufacturing right in CT, which gives this revolver a strong local connection. Although seeing use and images show some fine soft cloth polishing, the mirror-like nickel plating not only resists corrosion but adds a vintage, stylish flair—especially when paired with polished grips. SN 1105266, this particular revolver might date from the late 1970s to early 1980s—prime time for classic Charter Arms production, especially before their brief factory relocation periods. Founded in 1964 by Douglas McClenahan, a former Colt firearms designer, Charter Arms focused on affordable, reliable revolvers. The Off Duty model quickly became popular with plainclothes police officers and civilians alike.
The Ansonia, CT factory was known for producing tight, solid-frame revolvers—especially the Undercover, Bulldog, and your Off Duty variant. Just a bit of dried oil showing in images we will full clean off before shipping. Available to Connecticut gun owners and available for pickup right at our retail shop. L141.
