The locks are marked C. LANCASTER/LONDON. One pistol is numbered 1148 and the other 1149. The barrels show strong areas of their applied damascus type finish. Both barrels have very good smooth bores. There is a platinum blowout plug on the bolsters. Both pistols feature captured ramrods. They both have a hammer safety. The locks, barrel tangs, triggerguards, and hammers have very nice decorative engraving. The finely-made stocks are made of silver (non-magnetic). The grips are punched in a checkering pattern and there is a cap compartment at the bottom of the grip. The stocks have sharp edges and a teardrop shape to the rear of the lock. They have a pleasing appearance with areas of light tarnish in protected areas. The actions function properly. Included in the case are a three compartment unmarked Dixon type flask, a brass oil can, a cleaning rod with detachable jag, and a tin of Geo. Bryson/Birmingham/Foil Lined/No. 22 percussion caps. The interior of the case is fine with intact partitions and good lining. The exterior of the English walnut case is fine. There is a blank round escutcheon on the lid. These metal English pistols are very rare and were most certainly special ordered by a high ranking person. Don't miss this pair of Lancaster percussion pistols! Price: $9,500.00 Antique: Yes |
