This is a very handsome rifle that has an 05-dated, "SA" marked barrel, with the metal retaining 90-95% of the original blue finish that has silvered along the high edges and projections, as well as extensive bright metal on the sides of the front sight base. Some further small areas of minor fading are present on the bearing surfaces of the original bolt. There is very little fading or silvering present on the trigger guard and floorplate, however a small chip of metal is missing from the right side edge of the trigger guard bow. The walnut stock and handguard are in very good shape, with many small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout, most noticeably around the barrel band, and on either side of the buttstock. The correct "ELH" inspector cartouche (Edgar L. Hathaway) is faint, but still legible on the left side, and the handguard has a large "LA" stamp on the hump. Additionally, a steel oiler is present within the stock compartment. This is a great looking early .30-06 production rifle, in fine condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection.
